"Three Patti" is a popular card game, especially in South Asia.

General Rules

1. Number of Players

The game is usually played with 3 - 6 players, although it can be played with 3 to 10 players in some cases, but is most commonly played by 4 - 6 players.

2. Deck of Cards

A standard deck of 52 cards is used.

3. Objective

The basic aim is to have the best - ranked hand among the players. The hand rankings are somewhat similar to poker hands but with specific differences for Three Patti. For instance, a straight flush (a sequence of cards of the same suit) is a very high - ranking hand, followed by three of a kind (having three cards of the same rank), and so on. Another way to win is to be the last player remaining in the betting rounds.

4. Betting Rounds

There are multiple betting rounds. During these rounds, players can bet, raise, call, or fold based on their confidence in their hands and the bets made by other players. In some versions, players are required to place an initial ante (a small bet) before the cards are dealt. In addition, depending on the variation, one or more players may be required to place an initial bet before any cards are seen. This is known as the boot or blind bet.

It should be noted that in many regions, gambling in public or unregulated settings using Three Patti or any other game is illegal.

Objective

4. Flush

Three cards of the same suit, not in sequence. For example, K♥J♥9♥ > Q♠8♠7♠ > 5♦4♦3♦, etc.

5. Pair

Two cards of the same rank. For example, KK > QQ > JJ, etc.

6. High Card

When none of the above combinations are met, the highest single card determines the winner. If two players have the same high card, the next highest card is considered, and so on.

Gameplay

1. Dealing

Each player is dealt three cards face down. The remaining deck is placed in the center to form a draw pile.

2. Boots (Blind Bets)

Depending on the variation, one or more players may be required to place an initial bet before any cards are seen. This is called the boot or blind bet.

3. Betting Rounds

Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player gets a chance to either:

See (Call): Match the current bet amount.

Raise: Increase the bet amount.

Fold: Discard their cards and exit the current hand.

4. Showdown

After the final round of betting, all remaining players reveal their cards. The player with the best hand wins the pot. In some variations, there might be side pots for different rankings or special hands.

Variations

There are several variations of Three Patti, such as:

Muktasar

Players can see their cards after the boot and before the first betting round.

Pack

Instead of folding, players can choose to pack their cards, meaning they cannot win the current hand but can still participate in side pots if applicable.

Joker

Adding one or more jokers to the deck, which can act as wild cards.
